Premium Membership! and Utah and Everglades

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 25, 2009, 12:03 AM

For the holidays I received a year long membership to deviant art from my family. Told to just activate it myself, I realized that I could share the wealth thanks to deviant arts gift 1 receive one membership deal. So looking through my favorite artists on DA, I saw one who's premium membership was about to run out. Warnaiman [link] What an absolutely incredible artist who's beautiful pictures of flaura, fauna, and the people of Malaysia are absolutely stunning. His time lapse and grayscale photography have this mysterious appeal and feeling that makes me truly appreciate photography.

Enough flattery. On that note, I am off to Utah for a few days of skiing (and maybe a little photography), before leaving my family vacation to travel to Florida, for a winter break class (Ecology of Unique Envrionments) in the Everglades. A whole week in the Everglades! An intense week of day and night education of nature, supplemented with lots of photos. Between alligators, snakes, turtles, frogs, birds, exotic flower, and the land and waterscapes, I hopefully will remember to take good notes when I don't have a camera pressed to my face.

Also, one more shameless plug. Check out the super group Free to Roam, a wildlife (humane, ethical, non-zoo photography group), headed by Ryser915, Iamidaho, and nzeman. For those of you who are familiar with those names, you know what to expect from the group. If you don't, I'd highly recommend viewing their galleries.

Well see you guys in a few weeks with a bunch of new material

Andrew

Lets see, I like long walks on the beach at sunse.....

Ok to be serious this is a great shot as it literally shows who I am. I love the enthusiasm, that smile was actually on my face before I even turned around :) I am working at a nature camp, inside a tree on a pond's bank, net in hand, about to go wade into who knows what, for whatever it was the camper saw.

Nature is one of my true passions. Ever since I was a little kid I have always been just fascinated by everything from bugs to frogs to salamanders to snakes or anything else I could find, catch,or look up. I spend as much time out in the woods as I can and as a result I find some pretty neat stuff to take pictures of. I will be the first person to admit that almost never plan photos and that I simply shoot whatever I find in order to try and explain to others what my words alone often fail to.

I met in the street a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, his cloak was out at the elbows, the water passed through his shoes, -
and the stars through his soul.
